As the black drapes shiver
They say he looks so natural
Sleeping forever, breathless forever
And I can't help but wonder
Why they are surprised
When all of us die sometime
So yeah, I guess it's natural

As willow trees whisper
They say her tears are natural
So heavyhearted, so brokenhearted
And I can't help but wonder
How she was surprised
When all of us love sometime
So yeah, I guess it's natural

As the path darkens ahead
They say the fork is natural
Friends saying goodbye, unintended goodbyes
And I can't help but wonder
Why we were surprised
When all of us age with time
So yeah, I guess it's natural

Do we fight against what's natural?
Of course, because it's natural to
And just between me and you
The paradox makes me feel controlled

I don't really know where this idea came from... It just sort of happened @_@

The first few lines came from a lullaby I wrote a LONG time ago as a child while at my Grandfather's funeral. The original was:

Black drapes shivering
They say he looks so natural
Sleeping forever, breathless forever
And if I should stop crying
Stop wondering and asking why
Would this pain abandon me
For an eternity?

Children laugh
Swingsets moan
While I walk home alone

It's beautiful luv. And so true. I really love the repeated line, "So yeah, I guess it's natural" and the third stanza. It's so pretty.

Very beautiful, very deep. Its kind of sad, cause it reminds me of the fact that everyone seems far away now that we are all in college. :(
